Intel's official unveiling of "Pinetrail", the Atom processor got a makeover and the physical chips on the motherboard dropped from three to two. The Dell Mini 10 includes the 1.66GHz, Intel Atom N450 and the new Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3150 — all on the same processor package.
The Mini 10 looks a little different on the outside too. The 6-cell battery is now flush with the base, so you no longer have that awkward protrusion from the back. Also, Mini 10 comes with the lid can be customized with up to 200 different designs.
The interior has a slight makeover as well. The palm rests are now textured to guard against smudges and fingerprints. Though the keyboard is still 92 percent of full size, the keycaps are now curved, improving the strike zone on each key. The mouse buttons are still integrated into the touchpad, similar in style to the Apple Macbook Pros, but Dell has gotten rid of the nagging multitouch features.
The Mini 10 is still one of the most feature-rich netbooks, having options for neat little add-ons such as a built-in DTV tuner, a Broadcom HD decoder chip, embedded 3G wireless, GPS capabilities, and an "HD" resolution (1,366-by-768).Systems will ship after January 4, 2010
